THIS poodle clearly feels the force is strong within him – after his owner
crimped him into Yoda from Star Wars.
The pet pooch had his fur died green and different shades of brown to imitate
the look of the Jedi master from the fantasy films.
And as a little surprise, the little dog has a small Ewok shaved and coloured
into his behind.

He was one of a score of canines being entered into a dog-grooming competition
where owners can win more than £30,000 for their efforts.
The outlandish designs — which can take up to six months to create — include
Disney characters, African animals and legendary beasts.

One of the dogs has been clipped and dyed to look half-tiger, half-elephant
while another resembles a cute version of the Chimera from Greek mythology.
The stunning transformations were captured by animal photographer Ren
Netherland, 52, who travels thousands of miles across America to reach
competitions every year.

The former Navy officer, from Florida, said: “Creative grooming has become
wildly popular. The majority of people are amazed by the photos and are
often curious as to what breed of dog it is.
“There will always be that one person that thinks it is cruel but they don’t
understand how loved these dogs are.”

The owners spend two hours putting the finishing touches to their animals
before the final shoot. They are then rated by a panel of expert judges.

And while getting them to pose for the camera may seem like a tough ask, Mr
Netherland said most of the dogs enjoy the limelight and don’t need much
coaxing.

However, when that fails, his 25 years of animal photography experience
enables him to make a model out of even the shyest pooch.

He added: “The animals love me. I’ve been told many times that I speak their
language.”

Your standard alluring, boudoir-style photos usually sees someone stretched out on a bear skin rug. But if the only thing you’re looking for in a partner is an obsession with Star Wars, perhaps a photo of yourself sprawled across this life-size tauntaun skin rug would serve as a better dating site profile pic.
Made by hand by master prop builder Malaki Keller, this one-of-a-kind recreation isn’t for sale, which is sad because it has several benefits over gutting an actual tauntaun, the least of which being it will keep you warm without burning your nostrils with its awful stench. Lucasfilm Animation’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars won two Emmys for its stirring fifth and final season at the 40th annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards. Last night, the show took home the award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars creator and executive producer George Lucas accepting. (The award was presented by Carrie Fisher, who enthusiastically shouted, “Yes!” when announcing the winner.) Lucas, joined onstage by supervising director Dave Filoni, producer Cary Silver, and line producer Athena Portillo, said, “This is especially important to me…This is my first Emmy and the second award I’ve ever won.” He went on to thank the academy, Filoni, Silver, Portillo, the show’s writers, actors, and finally, the animators, or “all those poor souls who toil over their computers.”

On Friday, guest star David Tennant was honored in the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program category for his turn as Huyang, an ancient droid wise in the ways of lightstaber construction. Tennant voiced the character in two episodes, “A Test of Strength” and “A Necessary Bond,” which were part of a four-part arc featuring Padawans on a Jedi rite of passage that does not go as planned. For more on Huyang and Tennant’s appearance on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, watch StarWars.com’s exclusive featurette, “From McQuarrie to Tennant: Creating Huyang.”
Supervising director Filoni released the following statement regarding the wins on Facebook:
Everyone, as you know tonight Star Wars: The Clone Wars won an Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Animation and David Tennant won Friday for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Series for his work as Huyang.
These awards represent the hard work of everyone who has worked on The Clone Wars‘ 5 seasons. Whether you worked on Clone Wars in the Bay Area, Singapore, Taipei, or Tokyo we all did this together.

These are the first Emmy wins for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the show’s seven nominations this year were the first in its history. While this was the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, bonus episodes are in production. The next series from Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars Rebels, is set to debut in 2014.
A whole host of pieces have been revealed for next month’s Celebration Europe Art Show, showcasing some of the coolest Star Wars fan art from artists around the world… although there’s something playfully ironic about depicting George Lucas as the Dark Lord of the Sith in a work designed to celebrate the legacy of Star Wars.
The 17 unveiled pieces will only be available to purchase and collect from Celebration Europe in Germany next month, with preorders for the extremely limited-run prints available now. There’s some pretty awesome stuff in there, from a celebration of the recently-departed Clone Wars, to female Sand Troopers, Darth Vader’s order to put down Owen and Beru Lars, and more than a few depictions of Leia’s slave bikini – it is Return of the Jedi’s 30th Anniversary, after all.
Check out a few of the pieces below, and if you’re going to Celebration, you can preorder a print here.

Homecoming, Brian Rood

Apology Accepted, Jerry VanderStelt

The Dancer’s Pit, Shea Standefer

In Order: Shade, Drew Baker,

Biker Scout, Joshua Smith (a.k.a Hydro74),

Our Actions Define Our Legacy, Lin Zy,

Dream Maker, Tsuneo Sanda
Matt Lanter and Angela Stacy didn’t go to a galaxy far, far away to get hitched-just the Calimigos Ranch in Malibu, Calif. — but the pair did include some “Star Wars” touches in their wedding on Friday.
The former “90210″ star, 30, is a big fan of the classic sci-fi series-in fact, he voiced Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
In his nuptials, he included actors dressed up as Storm Troopers that greeted guests at the reception, an insider tells Us Weekly.
The source said that the couple even walked into the party to the “Star Wars” theme music.
But it wasn’t all pop culture geek-out: The guests then dined to the tunes of a “Frank Sinatra-sounding” big band, not the Mos Eisley Cantina ditty.
Lanter’s groomsmen included a few other famous faces, including E! correspondent Jason Kennedy and singer-songwriter Justin Gaston.

Stacy’s bridesmaids wore different shades of purple, while the bride herself chose a flared gown with scalloped tulle at the bottom.
According to a friend of the couple, the newlyweds will be moving to New Orleans after their honeymoon, where Lanter is filming new series “Star-Crossed.”
Star Wars: The Clone Wars may be over — besides the “bonus content” episodes we’re still waiting to hear the release plans for — but the show is ending on a high note.
Tonight, The Clone Wars won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program. Series creator and executive producer George Lucas (you may have heard of him) accepted the award, presented by Carrie Fisher no less, with Lucas joined onstage by supervising director Dave Filoni, producer Cary Silver and line producer Athena Portillo. The Clone Wars beat The Legend of Korra and Dan Vs. in this category.
The Clone Wars had never been nominated for an Emmy until this year, when it received seven nominations. The show also won Friday in the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program category, with David Tennant honored for his work as the droid Huyang in Season 5.
